Mobile County Public Schools
Saraland students attend schools which are part of the Mobile County Public School System. There are a total of 90 public schools; 57 elementary, 17 middle and 16 high schools with plans for more new school construction. The school a child attends is determined by the location of the residence of the parents, the attendance area lines, and the school board policy.
The Mobile County Public School System also offers a variety of special units. Programs are available for children who are hearing impaired, have behavioral disorders, are mentally or physically challenged or have learning disabilities. Accelerated education classes are also utilized throughout the system.
Also available are our 'Magnet Schools." Applications to these public schools must be made through the Mobile County School Board. There are two magnet schools in the Saraland area. They are K. J. Clark Middle and Chickasaw Elementary Schools. Please write or call the school board office for more information:

Colleges & Universities
Just outside of Saraland, on a 685 acre campus, is the University of Mobile. Its curriculum offers studies leading to bachelor degrees in arts and sciences, along with pre-professional training in medicine, dentistry, engineering, medical technology, nursing, law and ministry, to name a few.
Other nearby institutions of higher learning are the University of South Alabama, Spring Hill College, S. D. Bishop State Community College, located in nearby Mobile, and Faulkner State Community College with campuses located in adjacent Baldwin County.
